September News
I know this update is a little late. Fishing has been so so. We have a new winner for the Mad Fisherman's Contest. This months winner is John H from CT, but who spends time in Weekapaug with his family. John actully had two fish out of Weekapaug, a 24.12 and the winner weighed in at 31.46. Both were caught on fresh bunker supplied here at Quonny Bait and Tackle. Congrats John, you will receive a $25 gift certificate to the shop.
We have had some great fish this month. Ron from Webster had a 44.4 pounder out of Weekapaug, Mark from CT had a great month at Quonny using yellow Anco darters paired up with teasers. Rhonda and Conrad also had good hook ups this month.
October is your last chance to win the Mad Fisherman's Contest. We have a new supply of After Hours, Pt. Jude Lures, Super Strike, Anco and Gibbs. We will be open until around the 20th of November. So come on down, there is plenty of fishing left and we know November possibilities.
We want to express our great sadness to the Clemmens and Clark family on the passing of Chris Clark from Hopkinton. We loved Chris from the first time he walked into our shop with his buckets of change saved up from his part time job. Chris will be greatly missed by our family.
That's all for now,
So get those knees a knocking and shout out "FISH ON!!!!!"

It is hard to believe September is alredy here. Where was our summer?
This month's Mad Fisherman's Contest winner is Jerry Zordan from Hollytree Campground in Ashaway RI. Gerry's fish weighed in at 28.89 pounds. Congrats!!! It was a beauty.
The Madfisherman's contest will run for September and October, so keep bringing in those stripers to be weighed in.
Quonny Bait and tackle will be joining in for the Hab's & hasco Memorial Tournament Columbus Day Weekend. The three best fish will win you some prizes, hopefully a couple of those Hab's specials and some point Jude Lures. Check the web site for updates.
The surf fishing is still a bit behind. Some great fish are being taken, but not in large numbers. the peanut bunker are in the ponds, so hopefuly the fish will follow.
That's all for now.

Well the dog days of August have arrived. Remember this is what we were all asking for, some sunshine and a little heat. Well we got it!!!
This months Mad Fisherman's winner is from Westfield MA. His fish weighed in at a whopping 33.64 pounds. JustinTomasini wins a $25 gift certificate to the store courtesy of my dad Rich Yvon.
Of course everyone wants to know , "How's the fishing?" well the boat guys are still doing fantastic out at Block. There is a ton of big fish out there. The kayakers are having a ball in the ponds, still going with the tube and worm. Mostly pink, but red seems to be working fine. I caught a schoolies the other day fooling around with a red tube my husband Jeff made. We cannot seem to keep T-Mam Custom Tackle tube in stock. Scup has been very pentiful and quite large this year. Tautaog is another fish that seems to be here in large numbers. The only slow area seems to be surfcasting. The anglers have been having a tough time from the beach.A few blues and a striper here and there. Fluking has been kind of agravating with the new regs being a 21" fish. Many many shorts are being caught for a single keeper. (What good is throwing back 30 fish for every keeper? What do you think the survial rate is for that protected size?)
Well this month catch is already at 28.89 pounds so you fishermen have some work ahead of you. Jerry Zordan from Hollytree campgound holds the title so far.
Summer is almost at an end, but the real fishing has yet to begin. We will be here until Thanksgiving, so jump in the car and come on down.......
