July News
Well the dog days of August have arrived. Remember this is what we were all asking for, some sunshine and a little heat. Well we got it!!!
This months Mad Fisherman's winner is from Westfield MA. His fish weighed in at a whopping 33.64 pounds. JustinTomasini wins a $25 gift certificate to the store courtesy of my dad Rich Yvon.
Of course everyone wants to know , "How's the fishing?" well the boat guys are still doing fantastic out at Block. There is a ton of big fish out there. The kayakers are having a ball in the ponds, still going with the tube and worm. Mostly pink, but red seems to be working fine. I caught a schoolies the other day fooling around with a red tube my husband Jeff made. We cannot seem to keep T-Mam Custom Tackle tube in stock. Scup has been very pentiful and quite large this year. Tautaog is another fish that seems to be here in large numbers. The only slow area seems to be surfcasting. The anglers have been having a tough time from the beach.A few blues and a striper here and there. Fluking has been kind of agravating with the new regs being a 21" fish. Many many shorts are being caught for a single keeper. (What good is throwing back 30 fish for every keeper? What do you think the survial rate is for that protected size?)
Well this month catch is already at 28.89 pounds so you fishermen have some work ahead of you. Jerry Zordan from Hollytree campgound holds the title so far.
Summer is almost at an end, but the real fishing has yet to begin. We will be here until Thanksgiving, so jump in the car and come on down.......
